New Delhi: Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain, flautist Rakesh Chaurasia, Shankar Mahadevan, V. Selvaganesh and Ganesh Rajagopalan have won Grammy awards.The ceremony took place on February 4 in Los Angeles.Ustad Hussain and Chaurasia won the award in the Global Music Performance category for the song ‘Pashto’. The song is part of the album ‘As We Speak’, by Bela Fleck and Edgar Meyer, which won in the Contemporary Instrumental Album category.The ‘Abundance in Millets’ song, performed by the singer couple Falguni Shah and Gaurav, and featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has thus lost in the Global Music Performance category.Hussain, notably, also won a Grammy in the Best Global Music Album category as part of Shakti, which won for ‘The Moment’. This album has eight songs by guitarist John McLaughlin.
