New Delhi: Muzaffarnagar teacher Tripta Tyagi – who was seen in a video asking students to slap a Muslim classmate – said that she had done nothing wrong and that she was not ashamed of her actions. On August 27, Sunday, Tyagi said that the video was made to “communalise the situation,” reported the New Indian Express.Stressing that she had done no wrong, Tyagi allegedly told reporters that most private school students in Muzaffarnagar “are Muslims and that there is no religious discrimination. The video showing the child crying while Tyagi encourages other students to hit him harder led to countrywide outrage, and then, as The Wire has reported, to journalists and politicians making a beeline to the Khubbapur village. “I have declared that all those Muslim children should be…(inaudible),” Tyagi can be heard saying in the video. There has also been significant pressure on the boy’s family to strike a “compromise” with the school, from which his parents have already withdrawn him.Meanwhile, the state’s education department has sent a notice to the Neha Public School where Tyagi works, over the fact that the school allegedly does not meet regulatory standards and required criteria for certification.“Thus we have sent a notice to the school and departmental action has been taken,” Shubham Shukla, Basic Shiksha Adhikari, told The Quint.Government officials claimed that the boy could be admitted to a government school if the family wished. Shukla told TNIE that he could be admitted as early as Monday, today.Speaking on the “required criteria” necessity, Shukla said that the school was running on a basic education affiliation and had students up to Class 5. It has been given a month to clarify to which department it is affiliated.Meanwhile, the Kerala government has said it is willing to “adopt” the child who was mistreated. “If his parents are willing, then the education department in Kerala is ready to adopt the child and provide him with the best education,” Kerala education minister V. Sivankutty told the media in Thiruvananthapuram.
