Nuh: After the communal violence that broke out in Haryana’s Nuh area, a tense silence prevailed in the city on Tuesday. All shops were closed and the district administration had suspended internet services until Wednesday. However, Nuh Nalhad Mahadev Temple, located 4-5 km away from the city, is completely safe. No vandalism has been done in the temple. False rumours – supported by the state home minister, Anil Vij – had claimed that about 3,000 people had been “taken hostage” in the temple. The violence resulted in the loss of five lives, including two home guards, and the burning of over 150 vehicles. Burnt vehicles were visible on every street in the city. The violent mob spared no location; even the cyber police station in Nuh became the target of destruction. Hospitals, grocery stores and liquor shops also fell victim to widespread vandalism.A four-wheeler was damaged by the mob along with closed shops in the market.
