New Delhi: After a 26-year-old died following a clash on Holi day in JJ Colony in Uttam Nagar area of Hastsal Village, Delhi Police and Rapid Action Force have been deployed in the locality in the capital’s South West district. The deceased, Tarun Kumar, was pursuing a digital marketing course. He died after sustaining severe injuries in the clash allegedly triggered by a dispute between two families from different communities over a water balloon. The incidents occurred on Wednesday (March 4), according to police.An 11-year-old girl belonging to the Hindu community allegedly threw a water balloon from her terrace, hitting a woman belonging to the Muslim community. The incident sparked tensions after the woman objected. The situation escalated into physical violence.Hindustan Times reported that at least four people, including Tarun Kumar, the deceased were injured in the incident. His death on Thursday (March 5) morning led to protests in Uttam Nagar area, as protesters demanded justice. On Friday (March 6) night, some vehicles were also set ablaze.The police have arrested eight people so far, HT reported. A minor boy belonging to the Muslim community was apprehended on Thursday evening. A murder case has been filed over Tarun Kumar’s death.The HT report added that several protesters attempted to attack the Muslim family’s home following Tarun Kumar’s death.“It is very shameful, when a kid hits someone by mistake and such an incident was carried out. We are consoling the family and the accused will not be spared at any cost,” BJP MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat said.
