New Delhi: The Bajrang Dal on Saturday asked people who plan to organise garba and dandiya events in Hyderabad to check the Aadhaar cards of those who intend to participate in the celebrations to “check entry of those belonging to non-Hindu communities”.
With the Navratri festival around the corner, the Bajrang Dal wrote an open letter to organisers claiming that during the past couple of years, “non-Hindu youths” were participating in garba and dandiya events and “misbehaving with women participants”.
Teams of Bajrang Dal members will also be present at the venues to take ” immediate action” if “miscreants” try to enter them, the letter said, according to PTI. While the letter does not mention who the “miscreants” are, it invokes the bogey of “love jihad”, a term the Sangh uses for inter-religious marriages, hinting that the organisers should not allow Muslims to participate in the events.
“Also, the event managers are hiring non-Hindu bouncers which seem to be a main cause for these miscreants to enter the events,” Bajrang Dal’s media convenor S. Kailash told ANI.
