The apex court has refused to revive a defamation case against Rajdeep Sardesai and Raghav Bahl.
The nine-judge bench has now asked the government to come up with a data protection mechanism that balances the rights of individuals and the interests of state.
The two-judge bench said the PAN cards of those people who are not Aadhaar card holders, and who do not comply with the provision of Section 139(2), cannot be “treated as invalid for the time being”.
