New Delhi: Samyukta Kisan Morcha, an umbrella body of various farmers’ unions, will hold a demonstration in Delhi in March this year to reiterate various demands, including a legal guarantee for the minimum support price. This announcement was made on Republic Day at a kisan mahapanchayat organised by the SKM in Jind, Haryana.
“We will hold a big demonstration in Delhi on a day between March 15 and March 22,” SKM leader Darshan Pal said, according to PTI, adding the exact date of the demonstration will be decided in a meeting in Kurukshetra on February 9.
On January 26, gathered farmers held a minute of silence for those who had lost their lives during the long protest against the now-repealed farm laws. The SKM has said that there more than 700 such dates.
Several farmers’ leaders including Rakesh Tikait, Joginder Singh Ugrahan and Harinder Singh Lakhowal attended the gathering in Jind.
