After David Guetta’s concert was cancelled in Bengaluru on January 12, the French DJ’s show in Mumbai, scheduled to be held on January 13, was also derailed because the festival organisers could not complete the formalities on time. However, early on January 14, Sunburn announced that Guetta’s concert has been rescheduled for Sunday, January 15, from 11 am to 4 pm, the Newsminute reported.

The Sunburn Arena event was scheduled to be held at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse, but the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation denied the organisers permission to use the venue. The venue was then shifted to Jio Garden two days before the concert, DNA reported, as a consequence of which formalities could not be completed on time. The rescheduled show is expected to take place at the Jio Garden.

According to the Newsminute, the organisers tweeted, “We are pleased to say that we have succeeded to reschedule the Mumbai event on January 15, 1100 hrs-1600 hrs at the same venue ‘Jio Gardens’, Bandra. New Delhi event will be as per schedule too i.e January 15 1600 hrs onward. David Guetta will be doing two shows on Sunday (January 15) in two different cities.”

The DNA report suggests that there was a tiff between the municipal administration in Mumbai and the organisers of the festival, because the latter had decided to advertise and sell tickets for the event with the venue as Mahalaxmi Racecourse without having gotten permission first.

They had also failed to pay previous dues to the organisation, as a consequence of which, an official told DNA, “It was then decided by senior authorities that henceforth, no permission will be given to the firm and an FIR should be registered against the company. However, when the civic administration realised that this time the company had even gone ahead with advertisements and opened up booking for the event at Mahalaxmi Racecourse, the caution note was issued”.

However, only earlier on January 13, the Times of India reported that the organisers said the concert was on as scheduled.

Guetta – who became an international phenomenon with his 2009 album One Love – was supposed to be on a four-city tour that was meant to begin in Bengaluru and go on to Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad. Guetta’s concert in Delhi is scheduled for January 15. As per the Newsminute report, the show for Hyderabad will be confirmed on January 14.

Sunburn had previously run into issues with right wing groups when they were organising their electronic dance music festival in Pune.
