    You cannot quarrel with the ‘model state’ appellation. Gujarat has been assiduously built as the model Hindutvawadi state, not just any model state. All the necessary corollaries of the Hindutva state are to be found here in plenty, and anti-Dalit atrocities ( indeed all anti-minority atrocities) are the hallmark of the real thing. So, let us not compare apples with oranges and admit other states’ claims to the ‘ideal’ status. Gujarat will lead the pack for the foreseeable future.
