As a society, we should introspect why we place these ” godmen ” on such a high pedestal. Do the followers who are resorting to violence and arson believe Gurmeet Singh is innocent, a man with such powerful connections is being framed, or are they saying that our guru is above the law, is entitled to his crimes and immune from legal accountability ? At each stage of this case, from the Chief Justice who ordered a CBI enquiry to the upright trial court judge who held this man guilty of rape, it is the judiciary that has upheld the rule of law. May the other cases pending against this convict be also decided soon.

Ugly religion. Ugly politics. Ugly devotees. A symptom of our collective degeneration. We get what we deserve.

Modi’ s common refrain that any violence or unrest is a State matter is one of convenience. One should recall that during the 2002 riots he blamed the Centre for not providing army/ security forces on time that resulted in so many deaths. In recent cases where there has. Even cases of attacks on minority and Dalits on the cow issue which occurred predominantly in BJP ruled States, he passed the buck to the States concerned , ignoring the fact that these incidents were committed by organisations related to his party. The curious fact is that in many of those cases, FIRs were made against not only the perpetrators but on the victims as well. Modi or his advisers perhaps do not the Law of the land

    Khattar’s (in)action is appeasement, no?
So – BJP (and friends), think before you accuse others of the same! In this game called “appeasement”, all of you are equally complicit and you know it.
