American singer, songwriter, musician, television host and actor Glen Travis Campbell died on August 8 of Alzheimer’s disease, eight years after being diagnosed. He was 81.
Campbell, best known for a long series of country and western hits he delivered during the 1960s and ‘70s, was also known for his popular television show The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour. He won four Grammy Awards for ‘Gentle on My Mind’ and ‘By the Time I Get to Phoenix’, and released over 70 albums over his 50-year career.
