One Killed, Five Injured After Attack on Army Convoy in Kashmir

New Delhi: An army convoy in Anantnag’s Qazigund in Jammu and Kashmir was attacked by militants on Saturday, June 3, Indian Express reported. According to the report, the attack on the convoy left one soldier dead and five others injured.

The injured soldiers were rushed to a nearby hospital. Two of the injured are critical, according to an ANI report.

Reports say that the convoy, which was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu, was near the Lower Munda toll post in Qazigund area of the district when the firing took place.

A hunt has been undertaken to capture the militants behind the attack.

Thursday, June 1, saw a shelling by Pakistan at Krishna Ghati sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Reports suggest that two civilians were killed in the attack. Four others, including a BSF jawan, were also injured in the attack. Pakistan claimed that five of their soldiers were killed in the Indian army’s retaliatory fire along the Nowshera and Krishnagati sectors.

These attacks come after the entire top command of the Indian army headed by chief Bipin Rawat held a meeting at the 15 Corps headquarters in Srinagar, reported ANI. The agenda of the meeting was to review the situation in the hinterland and borders.
