Uttar Pradesh

Polling in India’s most populous state was held in four phases between February 11 and March 8, with the key players being the BJP, the Samjawadi Party-Congress alliance, the BSP and the Rashtriya Lok Dal.

Punjab

Punjab has traditionally been a contest between the Congress and the Akali Dal (Badal)-BJP combine. This year, however, the Aam Aadmi Party entered the fray, pitching its campaign around Punjab’s dual problems of corruption and narcotics trade.

Manipur

Polling for the 60-member assembly was held in two phases on March 4 and March 8. While the first phase of polling covering 38 constituencies and saw a direct battle between the Congress and the BJP in most constituencies, in the second phase, the BJP faced its own allies – the Naga People’s Front and the National People’s Party – besides the Congress.

Uttarakhand

Since its formation in 2002, Uttarakhand has witnessed direct fights between the Congress and the BJP. This time also, the situation was no different.

Goa

Forty seats in the legislative assembly are up for grabs in Goa. With new entrants like the Aam Aadmi Party and a regional coalition by an RSS rebel, in addition to the BJP and Congress, it was a close fight in most constituencies.
